Who Mark Steel is

Mark Steel is a stand-up comedian and writer, winner of a Sony Award and a Writers' Guild Award, best known for BBC Radio 4's Mark Steel's in Town, in which he learns about a town and performs a show made for the people who live there; a touring version, filmed at Blackheath Halls in South London, came out through Comedy Dynamics in 2018, and in 2022 he played a French-language edition, En Ville et en Francais, in Paris and London.

He presented the BAFTA-nominated Mark Steel Lectures on BBC Two and is a regular on Have I Got News for You and The News Quiz. His stand-up show Who Do I Think I Am? became an Audible release in 2021, his show Vive La Revolution tells the story of the French Revolution from the Bastille to Napoleon, and his books include Reasons to be Cheerful, What's Going On? and The Leopard in My House; he also hosts a podcast, What The F*** Is Going On…?
