About D.O.C.

Disciples of Comedy.

D.O.C. is a free guide to stand-up comedy for three kinds of people: the ones who go, the comics who do it, and the rooms and businesses that book it. Pick twelve comics, see where they're playing, and plan the whole night around the show.

What's here

If you go to shows Plan a Night builds the evening around a room — dinner, getting there and home, what's open after. The Club Directory puts the clubs on one map, See Them Now shows where the touring comics are playing, and Your D.O.C. keeps your twelve. The Comedy Calendar lists who's on stage, night by night. Screen Stars finds the stand-ups in a show or a film you know. Legends is the vote for the greats who shaped stand-up, era by era. Club Etiquette covers the room.
If you do stand-up Comic's Corner: open mics, nerves and hecklers, a critique of your own tape, road maps from the first five minutes to a run of your own, the Tour Planner, and getting paid — each tool free, and what you make in it stays on your device.
If you book comics or run a room Book a Comic for a private event, post a call on the Gig Board, claim your night on List a Room, or find agents, managers and bookers in Your Team's directory.

How a fact gets on the site

Facts carry their sources, with the day they were read. Quotation marks mean a comic's own words, linked to where they can be heard or read — a recording, with the minute where there is one, or the comic's own book — and never a line from a quote site. Tour dates come from the ticket seller's page or the comic's own site, and each shows the day it was read. A comic's version of their own record, and a room's version of its own night, outrank what D.O.C. found. Photographs are credited on the Credits page.

What D.O.C. doesn't do

Sell tickets A ticket button opens the seller's own page. If a ticket link ever earns D.O.C. a commission, the page with that link says so.
Represent comedians Nothing here holds a date, sets a fee or takes a cut of a booking. A fee comes from the performer or their representative.
Sell a place in the lists No room, comic or record pays for its place in the Club Directory, SUCDb or See Them Now. Paid listings exist only in Your Team's directory, for businesses that serve comics, and each one is marked paid.

Corrections, credits and contact

A wrong date, a fact that has changed, a photo credited the wrong way — or a photo its photographer or its subject wants taken down — gets fixed when it's reported, and a photo taken down comes down.

D.O.C.'s mailbox opens when it starts taking submissions; until then, nothing on this site sends anything.
