Who Lucy Porter is

Lucy Porter is a stand-up comedian and writer, born in 1972, who studied English literature at the University of Manchester and worked as a journalist and then a television researcher, on shows including The Mrs Merton Show, before turning to stand-up; she was runner-up in So You Think You're Funny? at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1996. She has taken a long run of solo shows to Edinburgh since 2002, toured the UK with Wake-Up Call (2021) and No Regrets!

(2024), and played Hong Kong, Bangkok, Paris and the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival in 2007. On television she has appeared on Have I Got News for You, Mock the Week, QI, Pointless and Never Mind the Buzzcocks, was a lead writer on ITV1's Headcases, and set a record celebrity score on Celebrity Mastermind in 2009. On radio she is a regular on BBC Radio 4's The News Quiz and Just a Minute, and she wrote the play The Fair Intellectual Club, staged at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2014.
