Who Josie Long is
Josie Long is a stand-up comedian and writer from Orpington in Kent, born in 1982 and based in London, who won the BBC New Comedy Award in 1999 at the age of seventeen. She was named best newcomer at the Chortle Awards in 2005, her solo Edinburgh debut, Kindness and Exuberance, won the if.comedy best newcomer award in 2006, and she was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award three years running, from 2010 to 2012.
She presents Short Cuts on BBC Radio 4, has appeared on The News Quiz, Just a Minute, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Have I Got News for You and Drunk History, wrote and starred in the short films Let's Go Swimming and Romance and Adventure, and published Because I Don't Know What You Mean and What You Don't in 2023. Her 2025 UK tour, Now Is the Time of Monsters, is a show about discovery, wonder and extinction.
