Who Rhys Darby is

Rhys Darby is a New Zealand stand-up comedian, actor, writer and podcaster, a former soldier in the New Zealand Army, best known as Murray, the well-meaning band manager in HBO's Flight of the Conchords. His stand-up, a blend of sound effects, characters and askew observations, has taken him from New Zealand to the United Kingdom and beyond, from the Edinburgh Fringe to Just for Laughs in Montreal, and his specials are Imagine That!

(2008), It's Rhys Darby Night! (2011), This Way to Spaceship (2012), I'm a Fighter Jet (2017) and Mystic Time Bird (2021). On screen he has played Nigel in the Jumanji films, Anton in What We Do in the Shadows and Stede Bonnet in Our Flag Means Death, and he hosts the podcasts The Cryptid Factor and Aliens Like Us. He is based in Los Angeles.
