Wayne Federman is a stand-up comedian, actor, comedy writer and historian of stand-up from Los Angeles, a forty-year veteran of the stage with his own Comedy Central special and several appearances on The Tonight Show. Federman was head monologue writer in the first season of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, has three Writers Guild nominations and has written special material for Mel Brooks, Judd Apatow, Sarah Silverman, Tig Notaro and the Muppets' Statler and Waldorf, and in 2022 won a Primetime Emmy Award as a producer of George Carlin's American Dream, among documentaries that include The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling and Mel Brooks: The 99-Year-Old Man.
Federman wrote The History of Stand-Up: From Mark Twain to Dave Chappelle, co-hosts the podcast The History of Standup with Andrew Steven, teaches stand-up and its history at USC's School of Dramatic Arts, and has acted in Curb Your Enthusiasm, Silicon Valley, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up; the three-volume album The Chronicles of Federman came out on ASpecialThing Records.
