Sara Schaefer is a stand-up comedian, writer and producer based in Los Angeles who grew up in Midlothian, Virginia, and began doing stand-up in New York after moving there in 2001. Schaefer won two Emmys for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon's web content, co-hosted the podcast You Had to Be There and then MTV's late-night show Nikki & Sara Live with Nikki Glaser, and made a half-hour Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents special that debuted in November 2019.

Schaefer's albums include Chrysalis (2015) and Live Laugh Love (2019), the book Grand came out from Simon & Schuster in 2020, and Schaefer has written for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Would I Lie to You? and History of Swear Words; the solo show Going Up has played Melbourne and Edinburgh.
