Who Najib Amhali is
Najib Amhali is a Dutch stand-up comedian and cabaret performer, born in Nador, Morocco, on 4 April 1971 and raised in Krommenie in the Netherlands. His career began in the 1990s with his first steps at Comedytrain, Amsterdam's stand-up collective, and he went on to win both the jury and the audience prizes at the Leids Cabaret Festival and to become a well-known cabaret performer in the Netherlands, loved for his characters and sketches such as his scene in a shawarma shop. His anniversary show Najib Amhali: 30 jaar on stage was broadcast on SBS6 on 7 March 2026, and his Najib Foundation provides hearing aids, glasses and dental care for vulnerable children in the Netherlands and Morocco.

Their stand-up
Amhali won the Pall Mall Exportprijs with Comedytrain in 1995 and followed his first solo show, Vol = vol (1998), with Veni Vidi Vici, Freefight, Most Wanted, Zorg dat je erbij komt, Alles komt goed, I Amhali and Waar was ik?; on 1 July 2017 he and Jandino Asporaat played De Kuip in Rotterdam, the first comedians in the Netherlands to perform in a football stadium.
On screen he acted in the films Jezus is een Palestijn (1999), Shouf Shouf Habibi! (2004) and Spion van Oranje (2009), co-presented Pinkpop in 1999, finished third as the Zebra in RTL 4's The Masked Singer in 2020, and has voiced roles in the Dutch-language versions of the Sonic the Hedgehog films and Paddington in Peru; he is also a professional drummer.
