Who Loyiso Madinga is

Loyiso Madinga is a South African stand-up comedian, writer and performing artist, now based in New York, who made his debut in 2012 at the Montecasino Teatro, sharing the stage with Tom Segura, and toured South Africa in 2014 on Trevor Noah's nationWILD tour. He wrote and performed for the Emmy-nominated satire Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and the sketch show Bantu Hour, and in January 2018 Trevor Noah chose him as The Daily Show's first Africa correspondent, hosting segments for its African broadcast on Comedy Central.

His debut special, Born Free-ish, came out in 2017, and his half hour A Long Way From My Village streamed on Netflix in Comedians of the World in 2019, the year he also appeared in Netflix's Queen Sono. He was in the cast of the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival in 2017 and is a 2026 MacDowell Fellow.
