Who Gina Yashere is

Gina Yashere is a British stand-up comedian, actor, writer and producer from London who became a star of UK comedy on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week and The Lenny Henry Show before reaching the finals of Last Comic Standing in the United States. She has performed on Def Comedy Jam and The Tonight Show, served as the British Correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, and co-created and executive produced the CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola with Chuck Lorre, which ran for five seasons and in which she played Kemi; she now plays Lura Thok on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

Her specials include Laughing to America, Skinny B*tch and Ticking Boxes, filmed at London's Brixton O2 Academy, she appeared on Netflix's The Standups and voices characters in animation including Early Man, and her memoir Cack-Handed was published in 2021. A track from her album Ticking Boxes was among the most-heard on SiriusXM's Raw Comedy channel in March 2025, and in March 2026 she was the channel's 27th most-played act.
