Who John Early is
John Early is a Nashville-born comedian and actor who came up through New York's alternative scene, hosting the monthly show Showgasm and touring his stand-up act Literally Me. His first HBO hour, Now More Than Ever, shot like a 1970s rock documentary with the stand-up set cut between cover songs and backstage footage, premiered at the Tribeca Festival in 2023 and brought him a 2024 Emmy nomination for writing; he had been nominated the year before for the Peacock sketch special Would It Kill You to Laugh?, made with Kate Berlant. On screen he played Elliott in Search Party and has appeared in 30 Rock, Broad City, High Maintenance and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day at Camp.
