Who Jack Dee is

Jack Dee is a stand-up comedian, writer and broadcaster known for a grumpy, couldn't-care-less stage persona, who began at an open-mic night in 1988 and in 1991 won the British Comedy Award for best stage newcomer and a Perrier Award nomination. His own Channel 4 series, The Jack Dee Show, was followed by Jack Dee's Saturday Night and Jack Dee's Happy Hour; he hosted the BAFTA-nominated Jack Dee Live at the Apollo in 2004, co-wrote and starred in the sitcoms Lead Balloon and Bad Move, and played Geoff in three series of the BBC's Josh.

Since 2009 he has chaired BBC Radio 4's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, and since his return to stand-up in 2012 he has toured Off the Telly (2018) and Small World (2023), was a contestant on Taskmaster in 2024, and took Jack's Joke Show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2026.
