Who Omid Djalili is

Omid Djalili is a British stand-up comedian, actor and writer, born in London in 1965, who bills himself as the Persian Comedy Powerhouse. He was nominated for the Perrier Award at the 2002 Edinburgh Fringe, has hosted Live at the Apollo and Have I Got News for You, captained a team on Never Mind the Buzzcocks and starred in two series of his own BBC One sketch show, The Omid Djalili Show, in 2007 and 2009.

His stand-up shows run from No Agenda (2008) and Schmuck for a Night (2016) to The Good Times Tour (2021) and Namaste, which in 2026 also became a topical stand-up series on BBC Radio 4. On screen he has appeared in Black Books, Lead Balloon and The Change and in the film The Infidel, which he also executive-produced, and he has been a guest on Radio 4's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue.
