Who David O'Doherty is
David O'Doherty is an Irish stand-up comedian, author, podcast host and musician who first performed at Dublin's Comedy Cellar in 1998 and the following year won the So You Think You're Funny? new-act competition and was runner-up in the BBC New Comedy Awards. Nominated for the Perrier best newcomer award in 2000, he won the Edinburgh Comedy Award, then called the if.comedy award, in 2008 for Let's Comedy, and he has played comedy festivals from Melbourne and Montreal to New York, Prague, Adelaide and Wellington.
On television he has been a regular on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and appeared on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, QI, Have I Got News for You and Live at the Apollo, and he created and hosted Channel 4's Along for the Ride with David O'Doherty. He co-hosts the podcast What Did You Do Yesterday? with Max Rushden, has been heard on BBC Radio 4's The Unbelievable Truth, and writes children's books, among them the Danger Is Everywhere series and The Summer I Robbed a Bank, which was named Irish Children's Book of the Year. His show Highway to the David Zone opened at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe before touring the UK and Ireland.
