Who Rhod Gilbert is
Rhod Gilbert is a Welsh stand-up comedian and presenter, born in Carmarthen on 18 October 1968, who started in stand-up in early 2002 after working as a market researcher in London. In his first eighteen months he reached the finals of every major new-talent competition in the country; he won the Chortle Award for Best Breakthrough Act, his 2005 Edinburgh show Rhod Gilbert's 1984 was nominated for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award, and in 2008 he was nominated for the main if.comedy award.
His tours include Rhod Gilbert and the Award-Winning Mince Pie, Rhod Gilbert and the Cat That Looked Like Nicholas Lyndhurst and Rhod Gilbert & The Giant Grapefruit. On television he fronted Rhod Gilbert's Work Experience for BBC One Wales from 2010, became the host of BBC Two's Never Mind the Buzzcocks in 2014, made six series of Rhod Gilbert's Growing Pains and took part in the seventh series of Taskmaster.
