Who D.C. Benny is

D.C. Benny is a New York stand-up comedian and storyteller whose nickname was given to him by Harlem's legendary host 'Uncle' Jimmy Mack, and whose autobiographical stories, peopled with original characters, have been sharpened over almost thirty years on stage. His 'White Boy Rips The Apollo' clip has almost ten million views; he had his own Comedy Central Presents, was a top-eight finalist on NBC's Last Comic Standing, and acted as Chaz on As the World Turns and as Caesar in John Singleton's Illegal Tender.

His weekly storytelling show Urban Myth at The Zinc in New York drew comics including Dave Chappelle, Jim Gaffigan and Kevin Hart, and his essays have appeared in New York Magazine and The New York Observer. He co-hosts the storytelling podcast Tall But True with Ben Bailey, and his track Open House was played on SiriusXM's Sebastian Maniscalco's Comedy Radio, the former Raw Comedy channel, on 1 May 2026.
