Who Michael Odewale is

Michael Odewale is a British stand-up comedian and writer who began performing at university around 2014 and reached the finals of both the Chortle Student Comedy Award and the BBC New Comedy Award in 2016. Odewale's debut hour, #BlackBearsMatter, won a best show award at the 2019 Leicester Comedy Festival and earned a Best Newcomer nomination at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards; the special Michael Odewale: Live at Soho Theatre came out on Amazon Prime in 2022, followed by the tour Thoughts On Shuffle (2023) and Of Mike and Men at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe.

On television Odewale has performed on BBC Two's Live at the Apollo (2023), Channel 4's Friday Night Live and Dave's Live from the Moth Club, and has written for Cunk on Earth, Dreaming Whilst Black and Netflix's Death to 2022, as part of a BAFTA-winning writing team.
