Who Jo Brand is

Jo Brand is an English stand-up comedian, writer and actor who rose to fame on the alternative comedy scene of the 1980s, making her first television appearance on Channel 4's Friday Night Live. She won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-Up in 1992 and 1995 and wrote and hosted her breakthrough series, Jo Brand Through the Cakehole, on Channel 4 in 1994 and 1996.

She later wrote and starred in BBC Four's Getting On, winning the BAFTA for Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme in 2011, created and wrote Damned, has regularly hosted Have I Got News for You since 2007 and fronted the Bake Off companion An Extra Slice on BBC Two from 2014. The Leicester Comedy Festival named her a Legend of Comedy in 2019.
