Who Jonny Pelham is

Jonny Pelham is a stand-up comedian from Bradford who was runner-up in both the Chortle Student Comedy Award and So You Think You're Funny? in 2012, third in the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year in 2013 and nominated for Best Newcomer at the Chortle Awards in 2014. His Edinburgh Fringe hours run from Before and After (2015), whose material became his 2017 hour on NextUp, through Fool's Paradise (2016), Just Shout Louder (2017) and Off Limits (2019) to Optimism Over Despair (2023) and Is It Me?

(2025), and he is a Herald Angel winner. On television he has appeared on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled and Live From the BBC; in 2019 he was writing Blazing Bangladeshis, a semi-autobiographical sitcom pilot set in Bradford, for Channel 4's online Blaps, and he co-hosted the podcast Failing Better with Sean McLoughlin, whose final episode came out in June 2023.
