Who Al Murray is

Al Murray is a British stand-up comedian best known as The Pub Landlord, a character he has played for thirty years in venues as large as the O2 Arena, the London Palladium and the Royal Albert Hall. The act won the Edinburgh Comedy Award, then the Perrier, after a record four successive nominations, and his West End runs earned two Olivier nominations.

On television he has hosted Al Murray's Happy Hour, Live at the Apollo and Live at the Palladium, co-created the Sky sitcom Time Gentlemen Please and presented history series for Sky and BBC Four, and his special All You Need Is Guv, recorded on a sell-out UK and Ireland tour, premiered on Sky and NOW in July 2026. With the historian James Holland he co-hosts the Second World War podcast We Have Ways of Making You Talk, and his books include Watching War Films with My Dad, Command and Victory 45.
