Who Yuriko Kotani is

Yuriko Kotani is a UK-based Japanese stand-up comedian who won the BBC New Comedy Award in 2015, a year in which she also won the Brighton Comedy Festival's Squawker Award, was runner-up in So You Think You're Funny? and placed third in Leicester Square Theatre's New Comedian of the Year; Time Out named her one to watch.

She has taken the solo shows Somosomo (2019), Kaiju About (2022) and The Meanings of Life (2024) to the Edinburgh Fringe, and she has appeared on Russell Howard's Stand Up Central, Comedy Central Live, Pointless Celebrities, Sorry, I Didn't Know, Paul Hollywood Eats Japan and BBC Three's Pls Like. As an actor she has played several roles in BBC Two's Mandy and appeared in The Horne Section TV Show, and on radio she has been a guest on Loose Ends, The Verb and The Comedy Club.
