Who Sarah Millican is
Sarah Millican is a stand-up comedian who began performing at 29, after a career as a civil servant, and won Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008. In 2011 sales of her stand-up DVD set a record for a female comedian, she made The Sarah Millican Television Programme in 2012, and she was crowned Queen of Comedy at the British Comedy Awards. She has played the Birmingham Comedy Festival and appeared on RTÉ's Stand & Deliver, filmed at the Róisín Dubh in Galway in 2010.
Her Late Bloomer tour played arenas and theatres across the UK, Europe, Canada, the United States, Australia and New Zealand in 2024 and 2025, and her special of the same name is on Netflix around the world and on Channel 4 in the UK and Ireland. She also hosts the Standard Issue podcast and wrote How To Be Champion, part autobiography and part self-help, and the ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards' prize for the best newcomer now carries her name.
