Who Matthew Highton is
Matthew Highton is a comedian, writer and filmmaker known for surreal comedy, who has spent almost twenty years working across stand-up, sketch and online films. His Edinburgh Fringe hours run from Incidental Combobulations (2010) and Shadowed Vagary (2011) to It Came from the Mud (2013), I, the Universe (2016) and Insufficient Memory (2018); his online comedy has gone viral, among it a running joke of putting Mr Blobby into things, and he has worked with LEGO and the Beano.
In 2026 he made his feature-directing debut with Lost on the Road, an improvised comedy quest film he plotted with Briony Redman and Richard Soames and stars in as Phil, which had its world premiere at the London Independent Film Festival on 3 October 2026.
