Who Kathleen McGee is
Kathleen McGee was a Canadian stand-up comedian from Edmonton, Alberta, whose stand-up took her to Just for Laughs, CBC Radio's The Debaters and SiriusXM's Top Comic competition. Her set at the Winnipeg Comedy Festival was nominated for Best Taped Live Performance at the 2019 Canadian Comedy Awards, the year her album Deliciously Vulgar came out on Stand Up! Records, later followed by Registered at McDonalds. A co-founder of Edmonton's Grindstone Comedy Festival, she also hosted the podcast Kathleen McGee is a Hot Mess. She died in 2024, and her track Just a Simple Girl was still being played on SiriusXM's Raw Comedy channel in November 2025.

Kathleen McGee started performing stand-up in Edmonton in 2005 and won the annual Funniest Person With a Day Job competition at the city's Comic Strip club in 2008, and in 2017 she was a finalist in SiriusXM's Canada's Top Comic competition. Her Stand Up! Records debut, Deliciously Vulgar, was produced by the Grammy winner Dan Schlissel, and her podcast Kathleen McGee is a Hot Mess ran for 89 episodes, ending in 2018.
In 2015 and 2016 she wrote the column Been There Done That: Questionable Advice From a Comedian for the Canadian magazine BeatRoute, and she was twice a guest panellist on CBC Radio's The Debaters.
