Who Dai Henwood is
Dai Henwood is a New Zealand stand-up comedian and television host based in Auckland, one of the country's best-loved comedians, who began performing while studying at Victoria University in Wellington and won Best New Face on TV2's Pulp Comedy in 1999. He won the Billy T Award in 2002, toured shows to Tokyo, Edinburgh and Melbourne, and won the Fred Award for the best New Zealand show at the NZ International Comedy Festival in 2007 with Dai-namic Scenario, which led to Just For Laughs in Montreal and its televised gala; he won the Fred Award again in 2015.
Since 2009 he has been a team captain on TV3's 7 Days, and after starting out on C4's Insert Video Here and Roll the Dai he has hosted Family Feud, Dancing with the Stars and Lego Masters. His stand-up specials include Dai Another Day (2009) and Adapt or Dai (2013); he received the Variety Artists Club's Rielly Comedy Award in 2016 and was appointed to the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2025 for services to entertainment and charitable fundraising.
