Who Amanda Dwyer is

Amanda Dwyer is a Glasgow stand-up comedian known for her deadpan delivery and a dark sense of humour about the realities of being a woman, who had been rising on the Scottish comedy scene for five years when, in March 2026, she won the Glasgow International Comedy Festival's Sir Billy Connolly Spirit of Glasgow Award. The award, the festival's only one, was given at its closing gala at the King's Theatre with a video message from Connolly, and the festival's director called her a comic who personifies the city she comes from. She founded and co-hosts, with Susan Riddell, Material, Girl, a monthly comedy show and podcast at The Stand with all-female and non-binary line-ups.
