Who Abby Howells is

Abby Howells is a stand-up comedian, writer and actor who won New Zealand's Billy T Award in 2023 for her show LaSoupCo, after taking Best Newcomer at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival in 2016 and the festival's Director's Award in 2021 for HarleQueen.

Her solo shows, from Glocknid: Dwarf Warrior to HarleQueen, LaSoupCo and Welcome to My Dream, have played sold-out seasons in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and at the Edinburgh Fringe, and she was named Emerging Artist at the Adelaide Fringe in 2020. On television she competed in the fifth season of Taskmaster New Zealand, has been a regular panellist and writer on 7 Days, played Daisy Liddle in Shortland Street and is co-head writer of Spelling Bee NZ, and she co-presented RNZ's podcast Did Titanic Sink.
