Spain's stand-up speaks several languages. In Madrid, the Madrid Comedy Lab, founded in 2023 by two international comedians as a weekly showcase in a bar, now runs English stand-up comedy almost nightly in its own room in the Barrio de las Letras, with Carmen Lynch, Todd Barry and Rory Scovel among its guests.
In Barcelona, The Comedy Clubhouse puts on open mics, showcases and touring headliners at two venues in the old town, mostly in English, with shows in Italian, Russian, Catalan and Spanish too, while the Barcelona Comedy Club, started in 2012 by Jose Bailón and Néstor Flórez, takes Spanish-language stand-up to bars and halls around the city. In Valencia, the Teatro Olympia, a theatre for more than 100 years, hosts the city's comedy festival, La Rialleta, through October 2026.
