Who Tim Fransen is

Tim Fransen is a Dutch cabaret performer and philosopher, born in 1988, who grew up in Amsterdam's Bijlmer and took degrees in psychology and philosophy at the University of Amsterdam. He won the jury and audience prizes at the AKF Comedy Concours in 2007, the Amsterdams Studenten Cabaretfestival in 2010 and the Leids Cabaret Festival in 2014, joined Comedytrain in 2011, playing the comedy club Toomler regularly, and co-wrote Theo Maassen's oudejaarsconference in 2013.

His debut show Het Failliet van de Moderne Tijd won the Neerlands Hoop in 2016, and Het Kromme Hout der Mensheid (2018) and De mens en ik (2022) each won a Poelifinario. His book In onze tijd. Leven in het Calamiteitperk won the Socratesbeker for the best philosophy book of the year in 2025, and he has written columns for Spijkers met Koppen, de Volkskrant, NRC, Trouw and De Groene Amsterdammer.
