Who Simon Amstell is
Simon Amstell is a stand-up comedian, writer and filmmaker who did his first stand-up gig at the age of thirteen. His stand-up hours run from No Self (2007) and Do Nothing (2009) to Numb (2012), To Be Free (2013) and Spirit Hole (2020), his Netflix special Set Free came out in 2019, and in 2026 he brought I Love It Here to the Edinburgh Fringe. His television work on DVD includes the sitcom Grandma's House (2010 and 2012) and Best of Never Mind the Buzzcocks (2009); he made his debut feature film, Benjamin, in 2018, narrated Carnage, a mock documentary set in 2067, and wrote the memoir Help. He has also played Belfast's Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.
