Paul Hilleard

Who Paul Hilleard is

Paul Hilleard is a Welsh stand-up comedian from Pontypridd, an offbeat storyteller whose dry, surreal comedy draws on the post-industrial Valleys town he grew up in. A finalist in the Bath Comedy Festival's New Act Competition in 2019, he won the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2024 and returned to perform at the 2025 final, and he was a finalist for Channel 4's Sean Lock Comedy Award in 2025.

His debut Edinburgh hour, Grogg, named after the figurines made in his hometown, ran at Monkey Barrel Comedy in August 2026 after Rolling Stone UK named him one of twelve rising stars to see at the Fringe; it put him on the Best Newcomer shortlist at the 2026 Comedians' Choice Awards, and one of his lines made the ISH Top 10 Jokes of the Fringe. He worked the show up at the Machynlleth Comedy Festival on 3 May 2026, co-hosts the podcasts Has It Got Legs and Union of Scum, and hosts a monthly comedy club at The Gaffe in Bristol.
