Who Ian Aber is

Ian Aber is an American stand-up comedian, writer and comedy producer based in Atlanta, a mainstay of the city's Laughing Skull Lounge who calls himself 'America's gay Christian sweetheart' and jokes about growing up queer in the South. He was a national finalist in NBC's Stand Up For Diversity, has opened for Margaret Cho, Jo Firestone and Fortune Feimster, and was the subject of an episode of PBS Independent Lens' series United States of Comedy, which premiered in November 2024.

He was an Official Selection of the 2026 Vail Comedy Festival, has played Atlanta's West End Comedy Fest in 2022, 2025 and 2026 and the Flyover Comedy Festival in St. Louis in 2019, and has been selected for festivals including Laughing Skull, Limestone, 10,000 Laughs and Scruffy City. His album is Night Sugar, his comedy is featured on Sirius radio and Audible, and he hosts the podcast Str8 Ppl: A Minor Look At The Majority. In Atlanta he hosts and co-produces the long-running shows Date Night, Urban Tree Comedy and Back Story.
