Hasan Al-Habib
Who Hasan Al-Habib is
Hasan Al-Habib is a British stand-up comedian, writer and actor from Birmingham whose comedy draws on growing up Iraqi in the city. He was a finalist in the Chortle Student Comedy Awards in 2022 and won the Birmingham Comedy Festival's Breaking Talent Award in 2023, and his solo debut, Death to the West (Midlands), sold out its 2025 Edinburgh Fringe run, was nominated for Best Debut at the 2025 Leicester Comedy Festival Awards and went on to Soho Theatre and the Sydney and Perth comedy festivals.
A practising Muslim, in his own words, he was one of the pilgrims in series eight of BBC Two's Pilgrimage in 2026. His second hour, Stuck in the Middle (East) With You, was long-listed for Best Show at the 2026 ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards after a work-in-progress run that took in the Machynlleth Comedy Festival on 1 May 2026, and he was on the 2026 Bath Comedy Festival bill. He returned to the Birmingham Comedy Festival on 3 October 2026 with Some Like It Halal, a work in progress of his third hour.
