Who Andrew Johnston is

Andrew Johnston is a Canadian stand-up comedian and writer from Brockville, Ontario, who has been based in Los Angeles since 2019. A regular on MuchMusic's Video on Trial and at Toronto's Laugh Sabbath, he hosted and produced Bitch Salad, a comedy night at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre that brought together comics rarely seen on mainstream club stages.

He has competed on Roast Battle Canada, been booked for a Hey Qween! comedy special and played an all-Canadian lineup at the Netflix Is a Joke festival, and he has released the albums White Devil, *Sips Tea*, A Special Place in Hell and Pomp & Circumcised. He also produces Katherine Ryan's podcast, and on 20 June 2025 he returned to Buddies in Bad Times to headline its Pride comedy night.

At Queen's University in Kingston, Andrew Johnston was president and executive producer of the Queen's Players; after winning the Toronto regionals of The Great Canadian Laugh-Off in 2005 he was nominated for the 2006 Tim Sims Encouragement Fund Award and for Best Stand-Up Newcomer at the 10th Canadian Comedy Awards in 2009.

As part of Roast Battle Canada's writing team, on which he also competed in two episodes of season two, he shared a nomination for Best Writing in a Variety or Sketch Comedy Series at the 11th Canadian Screen Awards in 2023.
