Who Alan Committie is

Alan Committie is a South African stand-up comedian based in Cape Town, one of the country's leading stand-up comics and also a character comedian, actor, writer, director and master of ceremonies. He is best known for one-man shows such as Stressed to Kill, which won the Naledi Award for Best Comic Performance in 2008, TV or Not TV, The Clown Jewels and Dick and Di, and for the long-running Defending the Caveman, which he took over and has played in theatres around South Africa.

He won a Fleur du Cap award as Best Actor in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead in 2008 and a SAFTA for M-Net's Laugh Out Loud, wrote and starred in M-Net's Van Der Walt's Fault, and has played the Smirnoff International Comedy Festivals, the Stand Up South Africa festival in London and stages in New York and Los Angeles. In 2025 he was the MC of the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival at the Baxter Theatre.
