About Jacqueline Novak

Jacqueline Novak is a stand-up comedian, writer and podcaster whose acclaimed one-person show Get on Your Knees became a 2024 Netflix special.

Her work also includes the book How to Weep in Public and the podcast POOG.

Jacqueline Novak started doing stand-up in the downtown New York scene after college, often hosting shows with John Early, and built a one-woman show into Get On Your Knees, an off-Broadway hit that The New York Times made a Critic's Pick and that earned her a 2020 Drama Desk nomination for outstanding solo performance.

The 2024 Netflix special of Get On Your Knees, directed by Natasha Lyonne, brought her an Emmy nomination for outstanding writing for a variety special, and POOG, the podcast she has co-hosted with Kate Berlant since 2020, was named one of Time's ten best podcasts of 2021.

Get On Your Knees began as How Embarrassing for Her at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival Fringe; produced by Mike Birbiglia, presented by Natasha Lyonne and directed by John Early, it ran Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre and then the Lucille Lortel Theatre, and made The New York Times' lists of the best theater and the best comedy of 2019.
