Who is Dan McGowan?
Dan McGowan is a clean stand-up comedian, humorist and emcee from Northern California whose act mixes energetic stand-up with musical parody. He has appeared on NBC's Last Comic Standing and on Celebrity Name Game, won the Branson Comedy Festival, was a finalist in the search for the new Maytag Repairman, and has been seen in commercials for McDonald's, Toyota, Dish TV, Benjamin Moore and Jardiance. He headlines corporate events, community shows and cruise ships, and in February 2025 he headlined a comedy night at Blue Lake Casino's Wave Lounge.
In Redding, California, he runs Redding Comedy, a guide to the town's stand-up shows, and he coaches comics through a free YouTube series and guides such as The Corporate Comedy Handbook and How To Create A Comedy Scene. His Dry Bar Comedy special Past Over takes on household chores and reconnecting over Facebook, and Dry Bar Comedy posted it in full on its YouTube channel in October 2026 as The Hardest Part of Losing Weight. He is also a published composer of church music for adult and children's choirs.
