Who Joey "CoCo" Diaz is

Joey "CoCo" Diaz is a Cuban-American stand-up comedian, actor and podcast host, born in Cuba and in the United States from the age of three. He headlines sold-out tours, has acted in films and hosts the podcast Uncle Joey's Joint, after years as host of The Church of What's Happening Now. His memoir Tremendous, written with Erica Florentine and published by BenBella Books in May 2023, became a New York Times bestseller. His stand-up album Sociably Unacceptable came out on Comedy Dynamics in 2017, and in March 2026, the last full month of SiriusXM's Raw Comedy channel, he was its 30th most-played act.

Diaz performed his first stand-up set on 18 June 1991 at Comedy Works in Denver and moved to Los Angeles in 1995; a 1998 CBS pilot, Bronx County, led to his first film role, as a referee in BASEketball.

His 2012 special It's Either You or the Priest went to number one on iTunes, and he launched The Church of What's Happening Now on 2 September 2012 and Uncle Joey's Joint on 5 October 2020.
